Attending to Your Nervous System with Care: Using Creativity and IFS to Build Emotional Regulation, Self soothing, and Grounding Practices

Are you searching for a way to regulate your nervous system, enjoy some respite from the never ending stream of horrific current events, and hoping to tap into your creativity? Would you like to practice compassionately being with some of the parts of you that have been feeling a lot lately in a gentle group setting with other folks working on the same things?

If any of that resonates with you, even if you don't feel particularly creative, I would like to invite you to join me for an online workshop where we will practice settling our nervous systems using vagus nerve exercises, mindful movement practices, and EFT (tapping). From there, I'll guide us through some IFS exercises that will help us identify a part (or two or five) that we'd like to work with. We'll use some creative drawing (absolutely zero talent required), some written word play poetry building exercises (again, no skills or talents needed or expected here) and mindfulness to help these parts feel seen, heard, and understood while supporting our systems along the way.

While this workshop is not a group therapy session, it may serve as a helpful adjunct to therapy or other supportive practices.

Recommended things to bring/prepare:
-Any drawing or doodling accessories that you like (colored pencils, oil pastels, etc., or a pen and paper, or tablet if that's your style
-Any cozy supporting items that help you feel your best (pillows, tea, snacks, blankets, heated neck wraps, etc.)
-A clean enough space to help you feel settled and not stressed by your environment ​
